although i’m a not a fan when it comes to horror flicks/books – I LOVE STEPHEN KING!! his books are so good…but i do end up sleeping with a flashlight next to the bed…

Oh, this makes me so happy! You are very welcome! I don’t read much of Stephen King’s fiction, but I thought Different Seasons was great. It’s a collection of four stories/novellas, three of which were made into movies (Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption, Apt. Pupil). The Shining is also fantastic, but not a good choice if you’re a horror wimp!

Also, I’ve *never* been able to get through The Elements of Style, but Karen Elizabeth Gordon has a HILARIOUS — yes! — series of grammar, spelling, vocab, etc books. The most popular is The Deluxe Transitive Vampire:
