Cheers: First Full Manuscript Complete!

by Corinne on November 10, 2009

GoldenWestMany things to be excited about right now:

1) Stephanie Perkins loves Chapter by Chapter by Heather Sellers too! She sent me some virtual vegan cupcakes as a thank you for the recommendation. Read her honest and inspiring reflections on writing

2) I discovered a handy-dandy tool, Write or Die via @CheekyWench. Even though it may seem ridiculous that a flashing red background and annoying song could push someone to pump out 1,000 words in 30 minutes, it works for me! Of course these may not be 1,000 brilliant and polished words, but they are progress. Sometimes you need to just get the thoughts on the page and worry about the rest later.

3) I did it! I finished the first full version of my manuscript and it is in the hands of a few beta readers (thank you readers!). Phew. Steve and I went to Golden West on Sunday night and I ordered a glass of the most expensive wine on the menu. I could barely put together complete sentences but I was determined to celebrate.

I haven’t looked at the manuscript since yesterday morning. I’m going to absorb the comments of my readers and dive back in after a little break. My brain hurts and I think I’m tiring out my characters. They need rest too. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive at Facebook and Twitter! More updates coming soon:)

Thanks, Stephanie! I went to Kinko’s last night and picked up the first full printed version of my ms. So exciting! It’s a lot easier to revise on paper, too:)
