In other news, I’m running. Sort of. I was inspired by a few Twitter buddies to try the “Couch to 5k” program. I’m only on day 3, but I’m still feeling motivated! I’m spending 10-12 hours a day in front of the computer (work and revisions!), so movement is a priority and not just walking downstairs for a cup of coffee (I mean green juice?).
I used to go to the gym all the time. For about a year, I went every day for 2 hours. I was in the best shape of my life physically, but not mentally. This time around, I want to cultivate a healthy relationship with exercise. I want exercise to be a sanctuary, not a means to an end. In other words, it’s a journey. Check out Kris Carr’s vlog on perfection. It hit home for me. When I go to the gym, my workouts never seem to be “good enough” and I leave feeling dissatisfied. I should be congratulating myself just for making it there!
It’s an exciting time. I’m working on a round of revisions that make me smile as I write. I can’t believe the places I’m going with this novel with Rebecca’s insight and guidance. I love this new chapter in my career. I’m happy to be sitting in my Baltimore home office, looking at the green grass in trees outside my window and typing this blog on my *new* computer:) Yes, that’s right, I invested in a MacBook Pro and it is my new best friend.
My mantra for the next week: Be kind & show up.
I think if I do those two things, everything will fall into place. Now, time to dig into more revisions! Have a wonderful weekend everyone:) If you’re in Baltimore, enjoy the Hon Fest in Hampden!
PS- I am so so so excited about the True Blood premiere on Sunday!!!

I love love love love that mantra! Some of my friends and I log our workouts on dailymile.com, and a friend posted “I went.” as her description once. I loved it. So now I remind myself: just go. Most days, that’s enough.
Hey Olivia!
You are such a kindred spirit:) I love your mantra, too! “Just go.” I’m going to say that to myself next time I’m resisting a run or even just some fresh air! I also love that you might do a 5k on your wedding day! I’m so happy for you.
xoxo
Hey Corinne, good luck with the running!
I’ve always been a fast pace walker myself..lol. That and aerobic stuff. Sooo excited for TB!!! I can’t watch till Monday though, my hubby is going to a concert and we want to watch together! AHH! Love your mantra, keep it up girl! XOXO
Thanks, Lauren! As always, you’re like a burst of sunshine:)
Lovely! Good luck with your running! I was a perfectionist my whole life, and when I learned to love myself for who I am at all times, everything became easy and FUN! Perfection sucks the fun out of life.
It sure does! Just like Kris said in her vlog- Perfection is beige:)
YES! It sure is! You are “perfect” to me
Thanks, love! Back atcha:)
It’s great to feel motivated–running and revising–and I think you’ve got the right attitude!
Thanks, Elissa! I’m trying to keep up with the running. I’m off to the gym tonight:)
Good job with the running! I’ve also been impressed with your push-up output as reported on Twitter.
And congrats on the new computer!
Hey Brianna!
I haven’t been as good about the pushups. It seems like I can only focus on one thing at a time right now:) Maybe I’ll add the pushups back in once I’ve gotten better with my cardio! Thanks for stopping by!
So inspiring to read of your success, your positive attitude, and your appreciation for all your good fortune. Congratulations!
Thank you so much, Gilda! I wish you the best with your writing as well:) Thanks for stopping by my blog!
