Early Friday morning, Steve and I packed up the car and headed north. After the car-ferry-bus trip, we made it to Martha’s Vineyard. In a nutshell, our mini-vacation consisted of: happy hammock naps, walking/exploring the island, a delicious breakfast at Beetlebung, book browsing (and buying-Corinne Demas’ Writing Circle) at Bunch of Grapes bookstore, beach strolls, and the restful activities continue. Although, I managed to fit in a sunburn, bee sting and hangover as well. We’re blessed to have a friend who opened his family’s home to us and showed us a fantastic time (many thanks to the Scott family!).
On our way home, we stopped in Providence, RI and I fell a little in love with the town. That may have something to do with the amazing restaurant, Julian’s. It’s kinda vegan heaven. I enjoyed summer (tofu) scram and tempeh sausage with fresh lemonade. I was “this” close to ordering dessert at noon, since a vegan brownie sundae with caramel sauce was on the menu, but I’ll have to taste it another time.
