When this photo was taken, we were surrounded by friends and family who had gathered in our little rowhouse to celebrate Audrey’s first year. Moments later, I blew out the lone candle on Audrey’s cake.
The days leading up to her party were a flurry of cooking, cleaning, decorating, welcoming and finally the unraveling of a day blessed with food, gifts, and most importantly, love. I’m grateful in so many ways, but I’m also just happy for Audrey–that she has this network of people who already adore her and will be there as she grows. They’ll enrich her life in unique ways through their stories, experiences, and support. She’s one lucky gal, and so am I. Here’s the rest of the weekend in photos.
The double chocolate vegan cake was a hit across the board (phew!). Chef Fran Costigan deserves 99% of the credit, since she is the creator of this amazing recipe!
The 90 degree day deserved a sprinkler run. Another first for Audrey.
At the end of the day, we said goodbye to the last of our guests and retreated upstairs in a pile of thanks and joyful exhaustion.
The next morning, we snuck in some extra time with our Rochester fam at The Papermoon Diner. The stars shined above.
